MAYA JAMA SHOWS UNUSUAL SIGNS AT THE CELEBRITY TRAITORS ROUNDTABLE.

Maya Jama has become one of the standout contestants on The Celebrity Traitors, but her behaviour at the Round Table could put her chances of reaching the finale at risk. While the presenter is usually lively, expressive and full of energy around the castle, body language expert Sean Johns has identified a noticeable change whenever her fellow contestants speak. Her sudden stillness, he suggests, could become a revealing sign that exposes her game.

With the series heading towards an epic finale next week, Maya has attracted plenty of support from fans who hope she will make it to the end and secure victory as a Traitor. So far, the Love Island host has managed to hide in plain sight, successfully avoiding suspicion. However, her carefully controlled behaviour during the crucial Round Table discussions may be becoming a potential weakness.

In the latest episode, Maya joined fellow Traitors James Acaster and King Kenny in a challenging mission to murder in plain sight by persuading one of the Faithful to yawn. Although many viewers noticed Maya’s apparent fake yawning, Johns believes another aspect of her behaviour could pose a greater threat to her position in the game.

Speaking exclusively to Wales Online, the body language expert explained that Maya appears to have developed a distinctive habit at the Round Table. He warned that once such a pattern becomes noticeable, it can turn into a tell that other contestants may recognise.

Johns pointed to several moments when Maya became unusually motionless while others were speaking. On one occasion, she rested her chin on her hand as Romesh Ranganathan discussed Rob Beckett. During another conversation, she clasped her fingers beneath her chin while Kenny turned his attention towards Hannah Fry. Similar behaviour appeared again when Joe Lycett questioned James Blunt, during Acaster’s vote and after Joe’s reveal.

According to Johns, Maya’s eyes remain fixed on the discussion while the rest of her body appears almost completely still. Her hands either stop moving or disappear below the table, and the expressive gestures she displays elsewhere in the castle seem to fade away. He believes this stillness is not necessarily a sign of boredom, but could reflect intense concentration as she attempts to avoid revealing anything through her movements.

The contrast with Maya’s usual personality is particularly striking. Around the castle, she can be seen raising her arms and shouting at the mission gate or laughing freely in the turret. At the Round Table, however, she appears much more controlled. Johns suggested that her experience as a live television presenter may have taught her to maintain a neutral expression while listening, a skill that could now be helping her manage her reactions in the game.

He also highlighted Maya’s ability to guide conversations without immediately attracting suspicion. During Thursday’s discussion, she asked why the group was not talking about Rob’s absence, directing attention towards the missing contestant while presenting her suggestion as though she were a Faithful. At Joe’s reveal, she covered her mouth with both hands, mirroring the reaction of Miranda Hart beside her. Johns suggested that matching the behaviour of a Faithful during such moments could help a Traitor remain unnoticed.

Other moments may carry emotional significance. Maya wrote Hannah’s name on her card with a heart and admitted, “This one hurts.” Hannah has since publicly suggested that Maya gave herself away. Meanwhile, Maya previously asked Acaster to “stay a little bit treacherous” and later described Kenny as the person who would actually do the jobs while she held the broom.

Johns believes Maya’s greatest danger may not be her facial expressions, but the possibility that someone will notice how unusually still she becomes during decisive discussions. His advice was simple: move a little, allowing her gestures to appear more natural rather than giving others a consistent pattern to examine.

Acaster, meanwhile, faces his own potential difficulties. Johns suggested that his quietness and tendency to turn away from votes could become noticeable when compared with Kenny’s relaxed, conversational manner. With Maya already encouraging Acaster to embrace his Traitor role and describing Kenny as the one who handles the work, the dynamics within their team could become increasingly important.

As the finale approaches, Maya’s ability to maintain her composure may prove crucial. Yet the very stillness that has helped her avoid drawing attention could, if noticed by the others, become the clue that puts her carefully protected position in jeopardy.
