The alarm was raised at approximately 6:30pm on July 7, prompting four fire engines to race to the scene off the A90. Dramatic photographs and videos shared by witnesses reveal huge columns of dark smoke engulfing buildings and spreading over the surrounding landscape.

Authorities have strongly advised nearby families to keep windows and doors closed to avoid inhaling the choking smoke. Drivers traveling on the A90 have also been urged to exercise extra caution due to reduced visibility caused by the drifting haze.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed in a statement: “We are currently in attendance at a large fire within an industrial estate in Tipperty, near Ellon, Aberdeenshire. Due to large volumes of smoke, nearby residents are being asked to close windows and doors.”

Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far. Police and paramedics are also attending the scene to support operations and ensure public safety.

The exact cause of the blaze is still under investigation. Officials have not yet determined what sparked the fire, with possibilities ranging from electrical faults to issues involving stored materials on the site. The industrial estate, which supports various businesses in warehousing, manufacturing, and logistics, could face disruptions depending on the extent of the damage.

This incident highlights the potential risks in industrial areas and the critical importance of swift emergency responses in northeast Scotland.

Residents in Ellon and surrounding communities have expressed shock at the rapid escalation of the fire. Many have shared photos and videos online, describing the smoke as overwhelming. The event has also caused temporary challenges on the A90, a vital transport link in the region.

Environmental teams are monitoring air quality closely, as smoke from such fires can contain harmful particulates. The advice to seal homes is particularly important for children, the elderly, and anyone with respiratory conditions.

Firefighters are expected to remain on site for an extended period to fully extinguish the flames and prevent any re-ignition. Further updates regarding the investigation, damage assessment, and recovery efforts will be released as more information becomes available.

This developing story serves as a stark reminder of the need for robust fire safety measures in industrial zones. Local communities are hoping for a quick resolution with minimal long-term impact on residents and businesses.
