SHOCK EXCLUSIVE: Meghan & Harry SNUBBED by Met Gala!
Met Gala: Who’s on the list?
This year’s Met Gala, to be held May 4, is being co-chaired by Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Vogue’s global editorial director, Anna Wintour. It was announced months ago that Jeff Bezos and his bride, Lauren Sanchez Bezos, were the event’s lead sponsors and that the host committee would include others such as Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Misty Copeland, Elizabeth Debicki, Lena Dunham and Teyana Taylor.
Some of those who received their golden ticket are Kris Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Cardi B, Doechii, Anne Hathaway, SZA, Megan Thee Stallion, Sydney Sweeney, Rosalía, Kelly Rowland, Cara Delevingne and Addison Rae.
Jacob Elordi, Tate McRae, Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas, Alicia Keys, Robert Pattinson, Emma Stone, Elle Fanning, Zoe Saldaña, Karol G, and Gabrielle Union are all also on the list.
But the mailman with Met Gala invitations skipped Prince Harry and Meghan.
No Met Gala invite for Meghan despite Beyonce friendship
Meghan, who has tried to crack the upper echelons of the fashion world since inviting herself to the Balenciaga show in Paris last fall and scoring a cover of Vogue rival Harper’s Bazaar late last year, must be horribly disappointed, as she felt she had a shot at attending the 2026 Costume Art-themed gala.
”Two tangential friends are hosting. She could go,” a fashion source told me last year.
Those friends are Beyonce, who Meghan — in the Netflix doc “Harry & Meghan” — claimed texted her, and Venus Williams. Meghan is good friends with Venus’ sister, Serena.
It now looks like Meghan’s hopes have been dashed.
“People are just kind of over her,” my source said. “She sucks the air out of every room and makes it about herself. Anna does not want that.”
Meghan’s reps didn’t respond to queries.
Anna Wintour thinks Meghan, Prince Harry ‘make everything about themselves’: Source
Wintour has been unimpressed with the duchess — especially after she and Harry fled the royal family.
Wintour, a close friend of King Charles, never gave Meghan an American Vogue cover — or previously invited her to the Gala. Wintour is said to be closer to Harry’s family.
Wintour was also said to be irked after a disagreement about a potential 2022 British Vogue cover for the duchess went awry.
Meghan, who had guest edited a 2019 cover for British Vogue while she was still part of the royal family, fell out with British Vogue editor Edward Enninful after she made “impossible demands” for the supposed 2022 cover, such as wanting editorial control and a global cover — demands that couldn’t be met as Linda Evangelista had already been booked for that cover.
“Nobody gets (editorial control or global covers). Not even Beyoncé,” a source told Page Six. Meghan even went so far as to insist on a Zoom call with Wintour over the cover, which, while Wintour did it to be “polite,” irked the editor.
Wintour is not the only one displeased with how Meghan and Harry “somehow make everything about themselves,” my source added, in what is now known as the “Duchess Effect.”
Meghan’s Balenciaga drama
And the icy editor took note last year when Meghan invited herself to Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Balenciaga show in Paris.
Social media buzzed over Meghan’s awkward on-camera moments — she and Piccioli bumped heads greeting each other, she appeared to laugh after a model stumbled on the runway, and Dame Kristin Scott Thomas seemingly turned away mid-conversation with her. Wintour was also said to be rankled as Meghan arrived late, just before the show began, and posed for photos “as if she was the star,” another fashion source said. “It was ridiculous.”
And Wintour wasn’t the only one paying attention.
Met Gala funders Sanchez and Bezos took note after holding Kris Kardashian’s 70th birthday party at their home last year, which turned into a royal debacle.
Meghan and Harry had the Kardashians take down all Instagram photos of them at the party. The photos caused a massive brouhaha in the U.K. as the party was held the night before Remembrance Day — a solemn occasion in the country. More controversy arose when the Sussexes appeared to manipulate the truth, saying they had never agreed to their photos appearing anywhere and that they hadn’t signed a waiver — a comment that Khloe and Kim Kardashian later shot down on Khloe’s podcast
Time’s ticking for Meghan to ‘wrangle’ Met Gala invite: Insider
“She’s got one month to try and wrangle an appearance,” another fashion insider sniped. “Good luck.”
Not that Meghan will let anyone know she minds. Apparently, she is now in the middle of another pivot and story rewrite.
Jaws dropped and insiders giggled when, days after a well-researched and devastating Variety piece broke about how Hollywood has turned its back on the couple, Vanity Fair dropped a fluff piece on the duchess, which was clearly fed to the magazine by Meghan’s publicists.
The story, which claims Netflix may still run seasonal specials of Meghan’s lifestyle show, suggested the duke and duchess were perfectly happy with their lives and were right where they wanted to be all along.
“Meghan is very focused on continuing to build her brand, As Ever,” said a source close to the duchess. “In addition to the brand, Meghan and Harry continue to focus on both their production company work, including the upcoming theatrical release of Cookie Queens” — a documentary the couple premiered at Sundance this winter — “and their philanthropic work.”
Netflix passed on the “Cookie Queens” project, which has taken months to sell; Archewell Productions has just two full-time staffers, and their charity, Archewell, shut down last year.
The piece also said: “The current state of affairs—private business and philanthropy combined with international appointments with government officials—is more or less what Meghan and Harry had been seeking when they first left their royal roles back in 2020.”
